Regional Irrigation Manager

We’re currently seeking a Regional Irrigation Manager.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Understands and maintains knowledge base on best in class products, services and solutions for irrigation and water management systems for client sites and properties.
  • Minimizing and continual decrease in the number of irrigation related safety incidents
  • Supports Region sales team with new sales opportunities, strategic key accounts and other key client opportunities.
  • Ensures that Branches have sufficient irrigation technicians that are certified and trained to deliver quality irrigation services in the most efficient manner possible to client properties.
  • Assists in recruiting, hiring, evaluating and retaining irrigation talent at Irrigation Technician level and Irrigation Manager level.
  • Leads consistent operating planning and process in the Region with irrigation and water management to ensure high level of performance in all Branches.
  • Drives the consistent operating model in the Region with billable irrigation technicians in the Branches that deliver best in class services at the right pricing to clients.
  • Implements best in class enterprise tools and processes in Region to support Branches with delivering best in class service and efficiencies.
  • Develops a Region specific plan for generating more revenues in the irrigation or water management line of business through value added services to clients.
  • Ability to present and communicate effectively in front of a large group of 50 to 300 customers.
  • Ability to put together customer specific PowerPoint presentations and reports using Word
  • Key Metrics: Irrigation Revenue Growth, Penetration, Margin Growth and Profit Growth; Client Satisfaction with Irrigation/Water Services; Number of trained and certified irrigation technicians to support client demand and growth objectives.
  • Builds external relationships with local water districts and irrigation manufacturers and distributors.

Fundamental Technical Expertise Skill Set 

  • Hold or working towards IA certifications (CLIA, CLWM, CIC)
  • Hold or working towards State Level Licensing or Certifications
  • Ability to troubleshoot and train others to diagnose electrical and hydraulic issues
  • Oversee that baseline  seasonal watering guidelines are being provided to exterior account managers
  • 5 to 7 years of exposure and experience in irrigation repair and water management
  • Continuing education on latest technology
    • Central Control Systems
    • ET Based Controllers
    • High Efficiency Nozzles
    • Flow Sensing/Master Valves
    • Soil Moisture Sensing
    • Two Wire Systems
    • Pressure Regulation
  • Proficient with computer software programs including MS Office suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • 2 or 4 year degree in a business related field or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of prior customer service, management, and leadership experience within an organization, the landscaping industry or local marketplace, including 1-2 years supervisory experience.

Water Management Sales Skill Set

  • Able to assist branches in developing water budgets to track water use and savings
  • Develop local relevant case studies for various customer types for each market
  • Personally conduct or oversee all new job start up inspections
  • Ensure that new job start up inspections are being completed in each market within the region, including:
    • Controller Maps
    • Base Irrigation Schedules
    • Immediate Repairs
    • Prioritized upgrades ideas with approximate ROI’s
    • Ability to present to customer in PowerPoint or Word Document
    • Water Use Analysis (optional)
  • Assist branch teams in presenting new job start recommendations on large new high profile accounts.
  • Ensure branch irrigation managers are tracking irrigation work frequency on accounts
  • Assist sales teams with Lunch and Learns for large, high profile customers
  • Periodically attend branch staff meetings to ensure branch irrigation managers are working closely with exterior account managers and discussing backlog and capacity
  • Ensure branches within region are all moving in a positive direction in terms of revenue and penetration

Operational Skill Set

  • Assist branches in standardization of stockroom and inventory replenishment
  • Assist branches in standardization and vehicle organization
  • Assist in training of techs on quality and customer service
  • Assist in training of techs to be profitable and efficient
  • Conduct periodic quality inspections throughout markets
  • Ensure branches are estimating the labor and material on jobs accurately
  • Ensure branches are pricing irrigation work fairly and competitively
  • Ensure branch irrigation managers are monitoring their material and labor expenses and assist as needed
  • Develop, train and mentor Branch Irrigation Managers to run successful irrigation operations
  • Ensure branches within region are all moving in a positive direction in terms of customer satisfaction.
