Here’s what you’d do:

The Quality Control Manager serves as the primary contact for BrightView’s clients. They build and sustain long-term relationships, focusing on both client retention and ancillary sales, while providing oversight for field operations. This position will be designated to one of our top premier client sites in Cupertino, CA.  This well-known campus is known as the "spaceship" and eighty percent of the site consists of green space planted with drought-resistant trees and plants indigenous to the Cupertino area.

You’d be responsible for:

  • Overseeing and managing Quality Management System (QMS) with regular reporting duties
  • Evaluating trees and surrounding plant material for disease and pest problems
  • Repairing broken branches by securing cables and braces to larger limbs
  • Analyzing nutritional needs and fertilizing trees
  • Planning and developing budgets for tree maintenance services for our commercial clients
  • Providing clients with written evaluations to keep clients apprised of plant material health
  • Ensuring that all operations, workers and properties are that clients are informed of any potentially dangerous situations in the property.
  • Monitoring and managing Standards of Excellence: Site Cleanliness, Weed Control, Green Turf, Properly Prune Shrubs, Soil Moisture, Root Development, and Mulch Regimes
  • Conducting quality inspections and submit and review Quality Inspection (QI) with Production Managers and Crew Leaders
  • Conducting and submitting to Client Representatives and BrightView Account Management Team Quality Site Assessment (QSA) reports on a monthly basis
  • Using soil probes to monitor and manage soil moisture for plant establishment and calibration of water run times
  • Managing establishment of trees through inspections, moisture readings, irrigation adjustments, and Integrated Pest Management
  • Monitoring soil moisture sensor readings and sampling and testing of soil nutrient levels
  • Monitoring and controlling disease and pest in conjunction with Account Manager
  • Developing and enforcing a project specific Quality Management System that will be accepted by the client
  • Leading project quality assurance / quality control by setting direction of quality standards
  • Conducting training and review of project quality requirements to team members
  • Preparing technical reports as required
  • Monitoring construction activity and completed work to ensure that quality and workmanship meet project standards and specifications
  • Managing, scheduling and performing inspections as required by the construction documents
  • Reporting non-conforming work and/or corrective measures timely
  • Performing technical document review and evaluation

You might be a good fit if you have:

  • Certified Arborist
  • Extensive knowledge in the care and maintenance of trees
  • Customer service experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of horticulture experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Horticulture or Plant Science

And while not mandatory, it would be great if you also have:

  • Strong work ethic
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient with computer software programs including MS Office suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Working knowledge of plant growing techniques and planting methodology
  • Strong work ethic

  • Customer service experience
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct training 
  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
