Here’s what you’d do:

The Claims Manager is a key member of the risk management team. This role will work directly with the Director of Risk Management to oversee the internal claim department and TPAs. This role requires project management and an analytical mindset with familiarity with multi-line claims.

You’d be responsible for:

  • Help develop claims management strategies, policies and procedures, metrics and goals based on best practices, analysis, and proven methodologies 
  • Develop and or enhance protocols for third party and internal management of claims 
  • Manage and audit third-party and in-house administrated claims to evaluate performance against established protocols 
  • Assist Risk Director in the development, implementation and on-going management of claims expense and loss prevention risk metrics to create transparency on performance at Customer, Branch, Market, Region, Division and Enterprise levels 
  • Assist Risk Director in preparation of presentations for Risk Management, Executive Management and Commercial Operations Management
  • Subcontractor indemnification and additional insured - Monitor the effectiveness of transferring accountability for loss to responsible party  
  • Develop or keep current protocols for communication and collaboration with BV Major Commercial or National Accounts on active claims
  • Be familiar with TPA and BrightView Risk Management Information Systems to establish and maintain effective interface, data management, and report generation
  • Develop methodologies to effectively utilize carrier or TPA data systems to evaluate and communicate loss information to commercial operations down to branch locations
  • Assure that reserving practices are followed by both TPA and internal staff
  • Assist in the development and implementation of effective communication and education programs to ensure on-going compliance with claims management practices, standards, and procedures
  • Attend mediation/settlement conferences on claims as appropriate
  • Respond to insurance requests and queries from internal and external parties 
  • Understanding of general management and project management principals 
  • Effective leader with the ability to manage and motivate team members to achieve established goals
  • Familiarity with claims management principles
  • Ability to manage the resources of outside service providers, specifically third-party claims administrators
  • Skills to develop and monitor performance tracking programs
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to develop strong personal and professional relationships at all levels of internal and external organizations 
  • Proficient presentation skills - ability to communicate, verbally and written (data reporting) across all layers of the organization
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision
  • Quick learner with enthusiasm for managing responsibilities efficiently and effectively
  • Organized, with a sense of urgency and high standards for accuracy 
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Additional Claims tasks and responsibilities as assigned 

 You might be a good fit if you have:

  • 5 years’ experience handling multi-line claims and/or claim procedures 
  • Working knowledge of initial claim investigation, discovery, principles of general liability and assessment of damages, reserving practices, and proper response to lawsuits, management of defense counsel 
  • Experience using general management, project, and task management tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate across all layers of the organization
  • Proficient presentation skills 
  • Demonstrated creative and innovative thinking 
  • Effective listening skills, with flexibility in approach to solutions        
  • Capable of managing multiple demands and priorities simultaneously
  • Strong bias for action and ability to manage to deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills 
  • Experience organizing and handling multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision
