Project Description:

In Dallas County, many depend on Parkland Hospital for their medical care. When Parkland outgrew its current facilities and needed to construct a campus that could sustain its future, it was only fitting the new facility match in physical size the impact the hospital has on the community. Nearly twice the size of the old hospital, the new Parkland spans nearly 2 million square feet, with 862 beds. Patients, their family, visitors, and hospital staff can meander through the hospital’s modern landscape; with its park-like atmosphere, it stays true to the Parkland name. Featuring native and adaptive plants, and stone planter walls in a hypnotic, swirling pattern, the landscape provides a soothing environment to heal the body and mind. A smart irrigation system, including rain sensors, drip irrigation, and a weather station, reduce water usage on the LEED Gold certified campus by an estimated 17 million gallons annually.
