Crews at BrightView’s North Miami Beach Branch have planted countless trees of every type over the years in virtually every possible setting: parks, golf courses, etc.

They’ve done it all.

So, when the Margaritaville Hotel called them to install a couple palm trees on their rooftop 11 floors up, it was no big deal as the team had three execution options, which were learned from prior experiences.

However, upon closer review, there was a bit of a problem with options A, B, and C.

Option A included using a crane, but it was cost-prohibitive to find one that was big enough and getting the crane close to the hotel with a large boulevard next to it was next to impossible.

Option B involved using a helicopter to lower the trees to the rooftop. However, the constant winds at this location made that option unrealistic.

Option C was simply using the hotel’s elevator. However, their elevators were not suited for larger trees.

Enter option D: Simply using the stairs.

Thankfully, the parking structure reached the eighth floor, however, the final three flights redefined the meaning of “hand delivery.”

Our crews are willing to do whatever it takes to deliver for our customers.”

Thanks to the BrightView touch, the rooftop at the Margaritaville Hotel now has some shade.

Driving to work recently, Clint Matthews, Jacksonville Branch Crew Leader, was ready to embrace a standard workday: mowing, trimming, etc., when he noticed smoke from a car on the side of the road that was just involved in an accident.

With no emergency crews on the scene, Matthews pulled over and pulled the remaining passengers from the vehicle before it burst into flames.

“They needed help, and I was fortunate enough to be able to help them,” Matthews said. “My thoughts and prayers are with those involved in the accident. It was a very serious situation.”

Matthews' actions are no surprise to those he works with.

“His courage, quick thinking, and willingness to act under pressure likely saved a life,” said Rodney Hicks, Senior Branch Manager of the Jacksonville Branch. “Thank you, Clint, for embodying the best of who we are. Your bravery inspires us all.”

The Gaylord Pacific Hotel and Convention Center in Chula Vista, Calif., is nothing short of stunning. From pools to palm trees and everything in between, its attention to detail is flawless.

But there was something missing.

They called BrightView.

“They wanted a bigger ‘wow’ factor as guests arrived at the hotel’s entrance,” said Isaac Alford, Branch Manager in San Diego.

Alford called in 108 of BrightView’s finest gardeners and concrete artisans and got to work.

The team began work in the spring of 2024, installing early civil site concrete, which included:

• 5,000 linear feet of curb and gutter work
• 65,000 square feet of heavy civil loading dock paving

BrightView then moved into the architectural site concrete and landscape, which included:

• More than 1,000 linear feet of cast-in-place walls
• 200,000 square feet of decorative site concrete paving
• 50,000 square feet of artificial turf
• 400,000 square feet of landscaped area
• 206 palm trees

“The job was completed on time and the customer was extremely satisfied with the project’s outcome,” Alford said.
