Project Description:

With four-and-a-half acres of gardens and winding waterways, Gaylord Texan is the premier resort in the Southwest to find entertainment and relaxation.  One of Gaylord Entertainment’s fabulous resorts, guests are invited to stroll through a variety of plazas, themed garden spaces featuring the Texas Live Oak, and a large interior atrium.

Landscape Development:

BrightView provided irrigation and landscape planting for the sixty acres of grounds.  The team was confronted by significant challenges in the form of access constraints into the interior atrium spaces, the need to work carefully around completed rockwork and water features, and the close coordination of all excavation activities.  This included the extensive network of underground utilities serving the hotel, retail, shops, swimming pools, spas, lighting, audio systems, fog systems, and themed water effects.

Landscape Maintenance:

Working closely with Gaylord Texan’s Exterior Grounds Supervisor, Brightview cares for the exterior of the property.  The team mows, weeds plant beds, prunes plants and trees, power washes pathways and pool areas, picks up trash and sprays to wean off pests and rodents.  Onsite enhancements include color changes multiple times a year and the installation of a streambed around the property’s perimeter. A six-control satellite irrigation system controls 180 zones while an onsite weather station helps to prevent over watering.

BrightView provides its expertise to help the property meet the qualifications for LEED®-certification like using recycle tire mulch in plant beds and designing and furnishing newly-designated smoking areas.  Specialty services also include winter ice removal and property support and cleanup during Gaylord Texan’s annual Holiday Ice Sculpture exhibit, necessary to protecting the surrounding water and its wildlife.
