Letterman Digital Arts Center

Project Description: 

A former military base, the 1,168-acre Presidio Trust in San Francisco, California, was recreated as a national park and represents a stunning vision for the “City by the Bay.”  Anchoring the renovated site is the Letterman Digital Arts Center, a 23-acre office and digital production campus and home base for George Lucas’ LucasFilm Ltd., Industrial Light & Magic, Lucas Arts Entertainment Co., Lucas Online and Lucas Licensing. Designed by eminent environmental planner and landscape architect Lawrence Halprin, the campus and public park is at the forefront of environmental design and construction and is a LEED-certified, green build project.

Landscape Development: 

BrightView worked with General Contractor, Webcor Builders, on an extensive landscape construction effort.  Installation services included the planting of 550 trees and 11,000 shrubs while preserving existing trees, 350,000 square-feet of contract grown sod and aquatic soil.  BrightView crafted decomposed granite pathways and water features including the signature Yoda courtyard fountain, creek and lagoon.  The team also installed site furnishings like pre-cast concrete benches and planters, a central computer controlled irrigation system and storm drainage.
