Project Description:

What began a small neighborhood grocer, Whole Foods Market headquarters featuring an 80,000 square-foot flagship store and 200,000 square-foot office building resides in the new Market District in Downtown Austin’s West End.  LEED®-certified and the epitome of environmental design, this corporate campus covers an entire city block and includes a sustainable rooftop garden and live music plaza that becomes a public ice rink in the winter.

Landscape Development:

With a sustainable landscape built by BrightView, this downtown project called for skillful time management and traffic control.  Using native and adapted material of the region, BrightView installed the rooftop garden and another on the roof of the underground parking garage.  The landscape, tied in with its irrigation system and decorative site furnishings, make Whole Foods’ corporate headquarters one of the first environmentally-sophisticated buildings in downtown Austin.  To ensure the proper progression of plant material, BrightView maintained Whole Foods for a year after construction was complete.
