THE CHALLENGE

Improve Conditions and Rein in Costs

The grounds and revenues at the Lake Worth, Fla., 18-hole municipal golf course had been declining for 10 years when the city decided to bring us on board. Our task? To turn around course conditions and, at the same time, rein in costs.

THE SOLUTION

A Science-Based Agronomic Plan and Increasing Operating Efficiencies

A science-based agronomic plan aimed at improving overall turf conditions and playability. In addition, we worked with the city to retain a veteran superintendent and hired and trained the maintenance staff in everything from technical and safety skills to golf course presentation and decorum.

THE OUTCOME

Increased Memberships and Overall Operational Savings

It paid off. Play and memberships increased, enabling Lake Worth to raise greens fees by $3 per round. At the same time, smarter use of resources saved the city more than $180,000 over historical annual maintenance.

The community is once again proud of “Lake Worth Muni” and we are hard at work on a five-year equipment replacement and capital improvement plan with the city’s full backing.

Due to our dramatically improved course conditions, we've been able to get $3 more a round than we have in the past and that's a big deal in this competitive marketplace.
