BrightView’s Groundskeeper Named PCL Sports Turf Manager of the Year
Collin Doebler is first sports turf manager with Las Vegas Aviators franchise to win this award
BrightView’s Sport Turf scores another home run as Collin Doebler was named the 2019 Pacific Coast League’s Sports Turf Manager of the Year.
Doebler, Project Manager of Operations, is the sports turf manager for the Las Vegas Aviators, whose baseball stadium was just honored as BaseballPark.com’s Ballpark of the Year. Doebler is the first sports turf manager with the Aviators franchise to win this prestigious award.
The annual award, to be presented at the 2019 Baseball Winter Meetings in San Diego, Calif., is based on 11 categories, including preparation of the field for the game and the overall playing surface.
“Due to the climate conditions in Vegas, the field for the Aviators can be challenging to maintain, yet it is meticulously cared for, thanks to Collin and his team,” said Murray Cook, President of BrightView Sports Turf. “Collin personifies everything that BrightView and the Sports Turf Managers Association is proud to represent in baseball: passion, experience, leadership and a love of the game.”
BrightView’s baseball field development and management experience is impressive. BrightView is currently building an MLB caliber field in an Iowa cornfield as part of the MLB at Field of Dreams game. Other notable projects include the 2019 London Series, the 2019 season opener in Japan, the 2019 Little League Classic, and the 2016 Fort Bragg Game.
