Our Service Isn't Just for Customers

At BrightView, it’s all about serving customers and communities.

Customer service can take many forms—everything from tree trimming to golf course maintenance and everything in between.

Serving communities means supporting organizations, such as Homes For Our Troops, Boys & Girls Clubs, and others across the country.

Sometimes, however, service to the community is as simple as grabbing a camera.

That was the case for Jesus Oregel, Account Manager at BrightView’s Scottsdale Branch, during one of his weekly property inspections. He came across a grandmother, mother, and their baby taking photos of each other, but they couldn’t get a shot with all three of them together.

Oregel pulled over, got out of his truck, and offered to take a group picture for them.

“The reason I did this is because I want our customers and the public to know that we’re not just a big company; we’re one big family, and we’re willing to help anyone who needs it,” Oregel said. “I also know how it feels taking turns taking pictures with the kiddos because I have two wonderful children.”

The family was deeply appreciative of the gesture, and the impact did not go unnoticed.

“People tend to see BrightView as a logo or dollar signs on a top 100 list,” said Kelly Dowell, the subject of Oregel’s kind act, via a LinkedIn post. “That's what company culture is. It's not policies or slogans. It's little moments in the field, talking to clients, and even your online presence. These all add up to the bigger picture.”

“Doing such small things for a stranger can mean a lot to them,” Oregel added. “We don’t know what people are going through, so I always try to help anyone in need—both inside and outside of the company—and treat everyone with respect.”
